WAAM Technology in Defense
Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing for Rapid Deployment
Scenario: In crisis zones or extreme environments, supply chains often collapse. Critical spare parts cannot be delivered on time. WAAM technology enables the local production of mission-essential components directly in theatre.
Objectives of WAAM deployment in Defense:
Mobile spare part production for military vehicles and systems
Maximum flexibility and speed through digital processes
Avoidance of obsolescence with “print-on-demand” from standardised material portfolio
Reduced physical stockpiles through digital part libraries
Mobile, container-based WAAM systems with integrated power supply and machining capabilities (currently at research and laboratory level)
Stretcher Loading System
From Concept to Series Production – Efficient, Safe, Deployable Challenge: enable fast and simple loading of injured personnel into ambulance modules for the Unimog.
In 2020, HEGGEMANN developed, manufactured and tested a fully automated stretcher loading system – operable by a single person at the push of a button.
